A common cause of being unable to locate a sample after logging it in is because it was received and stored/retained along with the retain sample.  After it has been received and stored/retained, it will no longer appear on the Manage tramstop as expected.  This is because the store/retain process marks the sample disposalstatus as Retained and changes the samplestatus to Completed.  It bypasses the life cycle checks that would normally keep the sample out of Completed status when there is still testing to be completed.  Check the Sample -> Retains page to see if you can find it there.  If so, follow the UnRetain steps below to move the sample back to where it should be.

  • UnRetain a sample
    • Find and select the sample in the Retains page.  A typical retain sample will show "Retain" as the Sample Type and Source (red arrows) fields.  After a sample has been stored, it will show the storage icon (green arrow) and hovering over the storage icon will show you the storage location in a tooltip that pops up.
    • After selecting the sample(s) you want to remove from retained/stored status, click the Clear Storage option in the toolbar and
    • Clear Storage does the following:
      • Removes the sample from the storage location
      • Sets the disposalstatus to NULL value
      • Sets the samplestatus to InProgress
    • After using the Clear Storage option, you should see the following message
    • If you go to the Sample -> Manage tramstop, you should be able to find the sample now and it should no longer have a storage icon.
