The Reset/Clear DataSet functionality can be used to remove all data inside of the dataset.  This is mostly not necessary for standard data entry, as you can just delete the data that was previously entered.  The main use for this is for special fields, such as default values, that you may not be able to easily clear after accepting the defaults.

This is the batch/sample I’m using to test with.  This sample has all the data entered and saved.

To clear the dataset, you need to find the sample and select it.  Then go to the List Control button and click View Datasets

It will take you to a new page that shows all the datasets and their status/info.  Note the dataset’s status in the red rectangle.   Select the dataset and click the Reset DataSet button.  This can only be done one dataset at a time.  This is a restriction in the software’s API and selecting more than 1 will result in an error message.

After clicking the Reset DataSet button, the page will refresh with the new status being displayed (red rectangle again) as well as a confirmation that the operation was successful.  If instead of the Operation Successful message, you see an error mentioning it is unable to set the RSET, it means somebody is in some part of the batch/sample and it cannot be updated at that time.  Everyone will need to be out of all aspects of that batch/sample to do this.   You will not see the red lock if another user is in the data entry page for this sample.

Confirmation that the dataset was cleared.
