This process creates a child sample from an existing Retain sample.  It will unrelease the batch and create the child sample with no tests associated.

Creating the sample

On the retain page, find and select the retain you want to create a child for.  Click the Add Retain Child button and it will create the sample.

Tests, specs, etc

After the sample is created, you will be redirected to the Sample Maintenance page for the new sample.  On this page, you can see the sample data and the parent sample.  You will also be able to add tests and specs as needed.

Data entry

After adding your tests and specs, the data entry process will be the same as any other sample.  This new sample will be sitting in the Sample > Manage tramstop.

Batch status

The batch status will move back to Active after the sample is added.  Once the testing is completed and reviewed for the new sample, the batch will move back into the Pending Release status.

Potential Issues

  • Unable to add sample to the batch
    • If the batch is locked (a user is in the batch), then the batch may not be able to be unreleased so the sample cannot be added
  • After sample review, the batch will move to Pending Release.  QA will need to know what to do with this since it will be mixed in with the standard batches pending release.
