PMS280 - How to update changes in the Product Structures in open MOs

1.  Using PMS280 to update product structure in open MO’s

Once changes are done in a product structure in PDS001/PDS002, the open manufacturing orders may need to be updated to reflect these changes when they need to be effective immediately. This document will show you how to update these changes in the open MOs.

There are a couple of things you need to keep in mind when you do this. The first is the update needs to be made to the product structure for the item (PDS001 and PDS002). Then, everyone must be out of the manufacturing orders that you are going to update. If anybody is looking at or changing an order, the changes will not be applied to that order. The next is the order status must be 20 40 22. Material should not be allocated, and no pick list should be released. If you have material allocated, you can deallocate the material to get the order back to status 22. If you have generated a pick list, you will need to delete the pick list to get the order back to the correct status. If you have confirmed the pick list, it’s too late to change.

Note: for the order type that generates MOs already at status 33, the changes will work well if no picking list has been released.

You will need to go to PMS100 and find the open MOs that uses the original BoM. Make sure you note the MO number and facility. Once you have what you need, close PMS100.

2.   Use PMS280 to update the product structure in an open MO.

Open PMS280. Enter your facility and the MO number (or the MO number range) you would like to update. Click Next.

You will receive the following confirmation. The order has been updated.

3.  Verify by looking at the MO in PMS100

Open PMS100 to check the MO you have updated.

Right click the order, select Related | Materials and Operations. And then, check if the BoM reflexts the changes previously done in PDS001/PDS002.

Your MO should show the updated BoM in according to the changes done in PDS001/PDS002.
