Fix Incorrect Translations:

Issue:
I received a complaint from an Italian customer letting us know that the use of our products is translated incorrectly in Italian.
The word “Additive” (used for product use in chapter 1.2) is translated in Italian into “Aditivo”. This should be “Additivo”.
This will be fixed in future updates. In the meantime, you can correct it yourself, so that you can correct your SDSs without having to wait for the next software update.

Here is the step by step process:

1. Select Data | Languages from the top toolbar.

2. In the window that opens, select Italian and then click on either “Phrases” or “Glossaries” depending on which library you need to access to.
In the case of the Product Use, I believe you are using the glossary section to assign it to the section 1.2 of the SDS, correct? So, you would then choose the “Glossaries” button.

3. In the “Locate” field, type the word you are looking for. Just like in the search objects, the wildcard is the % sign. So, if you want to find all the glossaries which contain the word Additive, you need to type %Additive.
Note that you can search either in the English “Default” language or in the Italian translations directly. This could be helpful as you could search the library for all the instances of “aditiv” and correct them all once for all.
I do not have the same glossary in my system, so I cannot base my example on this same entry. But, basically, the column “Italian Glossary Text” is a free text field allowing you to enter the needed modification.

4. As an option, you can check the “Lock” box for the entry you changed. This will prevent updates received by 3E to override your changes. So, you may want to use it in different situations, when you are modifying 3E standard glossaries for some reasons, and you want this change to be kept and not overwritten by us.

5. When you are done, simply click on the Save button and close the window. The translation is now corrected, and the next time you will generate the SDS in Italian with that glossary, you will not see the error again.

Just to be clear, the archived PDFs are not updated automatically. You need to generate the template again for the change to take effect.
Please remember that the translation library is case sensitive. This means that you may have multiple “similar” entries in the library such as “Additive.”, “Additive”, “additive”, “Additive:”, etc. Each one of the entries has a distinct translation in the library. So, in other words, if you correct the translation for the “additive” entry (all lowercase), but the glossary you assign to the SDS is “Additive.”, then you have not corrected the proper entry.
